The lid is supposed to be loose, not tight-fitting, to allow it to bounce up and down to help steam escape. Every slow cooker has a loose fitting lid. Don’t worry about it, it’s normal.
Can you slow cook without a lid?
Don’t open the lid during cooking! Slow cookers work by trapping heat and cooking food over a long period of time. Every time you remove the lid, the slow cooker loses heat, and it takes a while to heat back up. Follow this tip: Unless it’s noted in the recipe, there’s no need to remove the lid.
Can I use foil to cover my slow cooker?
It’s not uncommon for the glass lid to crack or shatter on slow cookers. A simple DIY solution in this case is to use a layer or two of heavy-duty aluminum foil to cover your Crock Pot. The foil does a good job of keeping the moisture in and is easier to remove than other materials without burning yourself.
Can slow cooker liners melt?
Plastic melts Slow cooker liners, made of heat resistant nylon, are safe to 400 ºF, which is beyond the heat of a slow cooker. But, be aware when using these on or near stovetop burners or in the oven where the plastic could come into contact with heated elements the plastic could stick and create a clean-up problem.
Can I use Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners in the oven?
Some brands, such as Reynolds, may also be certified Kosher. Slow cooker liners are not for oven, broiler, toaster oven, or barbeque grill use. Don’t use them to store food inside them in the fridge. Don’t lift the liner up with food inside it; serve food directly from the lined slow cooker crock.

Slow Cooker Liners help take the mess out of slow cooking by making clean-up a snap. Before tossing in your ingredients and turning it on, place a liner in your slow cooker. Once your meal is served, remove the liner, and clean-up’s done!
Can I bake in a slow cooker?
Choose the best size and shape slow cooker for baking. For cakes and pies, I recommend a 5- or 6-quart round slow cooker. You can fit a 1-quart round baking dish with a lid, as well as a 2-quart round baking dish with a lid, into your 5- or 6-quart round slow cooker.
Can you microwave slow cooker liners?
No. Crockpot™ Slow Cooker Liners are not designed for use in a microwave oven.
