Wool consistently developed the most intense colors with all of the dyes. Nylon, cotton, and acetate were also relatively easy to dye. Polyester was the most difficult fabric to dye.
Why do some fabrics dye well with Alizarin?
Alizarin also makes weak bonds with the hydroxyl groups resulting in the little color change. Eosin bonds with the hydroxyl groups without mordant and stronger with mordant that may attach with the groups as well.
Does cotton dye well?

Can you dye 100 polyester in the washing machine?

Can you tea stain a nylon flag?
